BlackRock expands client business team

12 October 2017 By Oksana Patron

BlackRock has made three new hires to strengthen its client service business in Australia.

Scarlett Dorney has been appointed as a director for client business, while Jeannie Bredberg and James Waterworth have been appointed as a director for the retail client business, and vice president and iShares specialist, respectively.

Dorney, who joined from MSCI Inc. where she worked for five years within the index business, would be now responsible for leading the multi-manager and institutional sales strategy for a portfolio of key clients. She would be also in charge of developing relationships across multiple BlackRock capabilities.

Dorney would be based in Sydney and report to Jason Collins, head of client business for BlackRock Australasia.

Both Bredberg and Waterworth would be based in Melbourne and would be reporting to Stuart Dunn, who runs the wealth advisory team for Australia, and Alex Zaika, head of wealth for BlackRock’s iShares business in Australia, respectively.

Bredberg has 22 years of experience in Australian financial services and in her new role she would be running wealth advisory sales in the southern region, including Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Prior to joining BlackRock, she worked for six years at BT Financial Group working exclusively for the platform team as their new business manager.

Waterworth, who rejoined BlackRock, would be responsible for growing the iShares business in the wealth advisory segment across the southern region.

He also worked for BlackRock in London as vice president within the EMEA corporate strategy and iShares UK and Ireland sales teams before he joined Societe Generale Lyxor Asset Management as director, UK, and Ireland ETF sales.

BlackRock Australasia’s head of client business, Jason Collins, said: “BlackRock’s business in Australia and New Zealand is growing and we are pleased to attract such a high calibre of talent to the team”.
